Mechanical Engineer

Summary
AMG Vanadium (AMG V) is seeking a Mechanical to join our team. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting ongoing projects, improvements, and changes at the facility, including mechanical justification, design, vendor and equipment selection, startup, and continuous improvements.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead by example and comply with all AMG V safety and environmental requirements and Company policies and procedures, including AMG’s Code of Business Conduct

- Design layouts for installation of new processes or machinery, or revisions of existing ones.
- Prepare and/or review blueprints, drawings, schematics and detailed equipment specifications.
- Work with Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering and Maintenance team members to ensure continuous operations of the plant
- Prepare cost estimates and funding requests for improvement projects
- Produce designs that will be safe, maintainable, reliable, and environmentally and legally acceptable
- Plan and supervise installation of new plant projects, coordinating process downtime, equipment deliveries, maintenance forces, contractors, and service suppliers
- Provide engineering expertise throughout the plant for solutions to production challenges, development of new techniques, and evaluation of existing equipment and procedures
- Utilize principles of lean manufacturing, including 6S Lean, to support operations process improvements
- Support preventative maintenance training of non-maintenance team members
- Follow scheduled maintenance work order system and participate in planning of required maintenance mechanical support during outages
- Project manage outside contractors and vendors from initial contact conceptual phase to project close-out
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering and two - five years of experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting desired
- Effectively utilize computer-based applications including Microsoft Office Power Point, Project, Adobe, etc.
- Experience 2D and/or 3D CAD software; SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, INVENTOR or Revit
- Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in team-based activities
- Strong safety ethic
- Strong mechanical, structural and electrical aptitude required
- Hydraulic and pneumatic experience required
- Skilled in reading blueprints, drawings, schematics and detailed operations specifications.
- Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment strong preferred; steel or hot metal experience a strong plus.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional analytical problem-solving and equipment vendor management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiar with OSHA and EPA requirements for heavy manufacturing
- Lean Six Sigma experience Project management experience
- Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam a plus
