Senior Buyer

Summary

AMG Vanadium (AMG V) is seeking an organized, experienced procurement professional to join our growing organization. In this position, you will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services to support AMG V’s expansion project. You will represent the company with suppliers and negotiate terms and conditions to ensure that the company’s quality, price and delivery expectations are met.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Issue and evaluate bid quotations and proposals from suppliers and select best source consistent with company’s cost, quality and delivery requirements, as well as environmental and safety standards
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers to obtain the most cost-effective short and long-term purchase agreements
  • Assess, monitor and control cost aspects of materials and services, including reviewing purchase price variance and other KPIs
  • Interface with suppliers including correspondence pertaining to over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices; report such changes to the appropriate parties in a timely manner as required
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related problems
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
  • Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers, as well as alternate sources for goods and materials

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

  • BA or BS in Materials Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field is preferred
  • 5+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships, basics of Cost Accounting, and tracking budget expenses. Experience in greenfield construction site or major capital projects a strong plus
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of supply chain management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with ERP software
  • Contract management and supplier relationship management experience
  • Project management skills and experience
