Cost Accountant

 Summary

AMG Vanadium (AMG V) is seeking a Cost Accountant to join our growing organization and support our expansion plant located in Zanesville, Ohio. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings schedules, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation, as well as completion of a variety of tax, audit and other assignments as designated by the Supervisor or Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assure monthly inventory movements are accurately recorded and reconciled
  • Plan, analyze, and collect data to determine costs of raw materials, production, inventory, and SG&A business activity; prepare financial reports and schedules
  • Work closely with the plant operations team to review and evaluate/assess monthly departmental results; drive enhanced level of knowledge and understanding with supervisors regarding cost of production
  • Assist Controller or Manager in the development of cost standards for raw material and labor
  • Assist Controller or Manager with budget development and tracking
  • Assist in physical inventory counts and monitor cycle count program
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership and external customers
  • Assist in development of capital budget for plant; track, monitor and reconcile capital expenditures
  • Perform various month-end close responsibilities, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with the monthly preparation of financial statements and monthly management reports
  • Comply with all AMG V policies and procedures, including safety, environmental requirements and AMG’s Code of Business Conduct

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Adapts to change easily
  • Oracle or similar accounting system
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good follow through skills, as well as heightened attention to detail
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office Excel, Access, Word and Power Point
  • Ability to work flexible schedule at critical financial reporting times
