AMG VANADIUM PRESIDENT RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT
MEDAL FROM COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES

Hoy E. Frakes, Jr., President of AMG Vanadium, Inc., was awarded his alma mater’s highest alumni honor, the 2011 Colorado School of Mines Distinguished Achievement Medal on April 29. Established in 1942, the medal is bestowed upon alumni by the school’s Board of Trustees for distinguished career achievements and excellence in leadership in their respective career field.

Mr. Frakes graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, and in 1985 he received an MBA from the University of Colorado. Mr. Frakes has been at the helm of AMG Vanadium since 2000. Under his leadership, AMG Vanadium has evolved into a fully integrated, stand-alone company and has realized the largest ferrovanadium market share in North America. A respected industry and civic leader, he serves as vice chairman of the Ohio Manufacturing Association Board of Directors, president of the Vanadium Producers and Recyclers Association, and is on the Board of Directors of the Vanadium International Technical Committee. 

Following his graduation from Colorado School of Mines, Mr. Frakes served with distinction in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before beginning his accomplished career in the metallurgical and metals industries.
